Project Precious Haiti Update - April 2021

Hello Everyone,

We have been reflecting, recently, on the past 18 years of travelling to Haiti, raising much needed funds, and working with the precious Haitian people. So much has happened in our lives over these years since we accepted Our Lord’s call to do His work in the north of Haiti. It has been quite a journey of faith! We have received countless blessings from this Mission work, both in Haiti, and in Canada, through all of the wonderful people we have met! The ongoing faith, prayer support, generosity, love, caring, kindness, and keen interest from so many people has been, and continues to be, a great strength to us! You have all played an important role in helping to keep HOPE alive in Haiti! We cannot THANK YOU enough!
As is seen on our website, www.projectprecioushaiti.org we attained the $1,000,000 milestone in funds raised in August of 2020. Since then, we have raised around $54,200 which is wonderful, considering we have been in a Pandemic for 13 months now! Our donations have definitely been affected by this Pandemic and the pleas for help in Haiti are greater! We are so very thankful for all of the donations we have received to date over these 18 years. As we tell people, no donation is too small and if you cannot give a donation, your prayers for us, and the Haitian people, are certainly much needed and greatly appreciated! We cannot do this work without the ongoing prayer support from so many people! We have also taken thousands of pounds of donated supplies with us over the years, which have certainly made a big impact in helping the Haitian people.
Our upcoming more pressing needs include, a number of school tuitions for September, teachers’ salaries, and school feeding programs. The school feeding programs are so especially important in the lives of the students, as this noon meal of rice and beans is the only meal most of these students will have in a day! We all know, without proper nutrition, we cannot learn properly.
The needs at Hopital Bon Samaritan (HBS) are also great, as this full functioning hospital continues to service the thousands of Haitian people of the Limbe Valley!
HBS also has the Kai Mira Orphanage and the Hodges House Foster Home that continue to need funds to operate.
We are unsure of when we will be able to return to Haiti. It probably won’t be this year. If we do not return this year, it will be the first year we have not travelled there since 2004. However, we are still able to have money wired to our very trustworthy friends who use this money for what it is supposed to be used for. We, in turn, ask them to send us a report of how the money was spent and pictures are sent along to us, as well. This is a requirement if they wish to receive additional funds.
If you wish to donate, please make your donation payable to:
St. Joseph’s Church, 96 Huron St., Stratford, On. N5A 5S6 and please earmark your donation for Project Precious Haiti OR HBS Haiti.
You can also donate through our website www.projectprecioushaiti.org
We, along with the Haitian people, are so truly grateful for your prayer and financial support! You can be assured of our prayers for each one of you, as well!
Thank you for helping to keep HOPE alive in Haiti!

Blessings,
Jim and Marg
