St. Joseph & Immaculate Conception Parish Community Bible Camp

The parishes of St. Joseph and Immaculate Parishes host an annual Bible Camp the last week of July. We were asked to do the attendance/check in and out, meeting children and adults at the door and ensuring they were picked up by an adult. As the theme was “Who is my Neighbour” we were also asked to share our mission work, not only in Haiti, in other work we do as well. This was to show and explain to the children that it is not only the people who live next door or down the street or even in our own city. It is people all over the world and that we are all God’s people and to love one another regardless of where we live or our nationality. We had a great time sharing with the children, as a lot of them know us from coming into their schools doing presentations about our work in Haiti.

It was decided at a meeting that they would ask for donations to help us in our work. So for fun our 6 year old grandson, Graham, who lives in Brantford and was staying with us to attend camp, and I decided to make a thermometer to show the kids how the donations were going. As you can see by the results the kids and their parents were amazingly generous. Marg and I were, once again, humbled by the response, questions, attentiveness of the children and the support we receive from such an amazing community we live in.

We will print and display pictures at the 2020 camp showing the children and parents where their money was spent and how amazing this work is with their contributions.
